NEA Planning Part 5 - Casting

NEA Planning Part 5 - Casting

Introduction

The purpose of my task is so that i can identify the actors i plan to use in my products in hopes to show their suitability for the roles provided and whether they will fit the needs of my target audience

Main Character 1:
Name: Joshua James Wyatt
Age: 15
Relative: Brother

Key information:
Joshua is a typical teenager, he plays video games, he sits in his room and only comes down for food or to go to school. The reason i plan to use him is that he is almost within the target audience, which is ages 16-25. Everyone within that age range can relate to him because they were once like, if not, similar to him. They were once teenagers. He was born with a clef palette and has both a speech impediment and hearing impairment. Being an older sister i've watched my brother go into operations and come out stronger each time. He is a brown belt within Jujitsu and when he turns 16 will work towards his 1st dan (black belt). Despite all hardships he keeps coming out stronger, and i hope through this music video he will also respect the message i am trying to show and potentially try to make this video successful.

What makes him suitable?
What makes him suitable is that he is 15, and relatable. He plays games, he goes to school everyday (like the target audience is doing/has done), people can see that he is just an average person, he is a normal teenager and he goes about his life like everyone else.

What could make him unsuitable?
Due to his speech impediment and hearing impairments people may be unable to find a likeness or a familiarity about his appearance, as well as possibly missing the meaning that this is about the environment, not about the person. However, i believe that the way a person looks is not something people should look at, because the message and the music is the most important thing, not appearance.

Main Character 2:
Name: Theodore Thomas Letham
Age: 7
Relative: Step brother

Key information:
Theodore is a lovely, charming little boy. He is sweet, very active and is willing to try anything. Despite being very active within football, cycling and his love of motorbikes and cars, he can be very calm and patient to work with, he listens to what he is told and is very well behaved. He loves his quad bike, is working really hard in school and has been working hard at home during the lockdown. He loves our two beagles, Baxter and Wilson and is very excited to be staring in my music video.

What makes him suitable?
He is patient, listens carefully and when he doesn't understand will ask questions. He works very hard and is very sweet. He also is suitable as most 16-25 year olds will know a young person, whether they be an older sibling, an aunt/uncle, a godparent or even an older cousin. Theodore will represent the youth around us, those who are effected most by the environment

What could make him unsuitable?
He could be seen as unsuitable because of his age, most people cannot remember what they was like when they was younger and may not understand the interpretation of the youth within the music video.

Conclusion

I believe these actors are suitable because they are of the highest availability, they are the right age for what i want to show and with them being able to understand me, as they know me, it is easier for me to get them to understand what i want as my ability to describe isn't the best and i struggle to verbally communicate what is inside of my head effectively, so having actors who understand me best is the most effective for my music video. As well as this, they both get along really well, as shown in the images above and i'd like to keep actors who are familiar with one another as to not intimidate and to keep the peace.
